GPSItek receives Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) 8(a) status
McLean, VA, June 3, 2020 – GPSItek, a joint venture of GPSI Guam and OBXtek, received Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) 8(a) status. The 8(a) Business Development program, which is administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), was created to provide support to small, disadvantaged businesses, particularly with gaining access to the federal marketplace.
“Our ultimate mission is to serve our communities and the profits generated will be dispersed to our NHO firm, the Kina’ole Foundation,” said Frankie Dumanal, GPSI Guam President. “The Foundation's mission is to educate, advance and promote economic development for the people of Hawaii through educational and business development activities and programs.”
As a NHO 8(a), GPSItek offers several advantages, including the ability to receive directed, sole source, non-competed contract awards from Federal agencies. This includes the ability to receive Department of Defense (DoD) sole-source contracts up to $100M without the requirement for a Justification and Approval (J&A). GPSItek offers significant time and cost savings to the government’s contracting process.
